The Circulatory system
Circulatory system:. is an organ system that passes nutrients,
amino acids, lymph, gases, hormones and blood cells to and from
cells in the body to help fight diseases and help stabilize body
temperature and pH to maintain homeostasis.
Type of Circulatory system:.
1. Open circulatory system:.
In this type there is neither a true heart or capillaries as are found.
Instead of a heart there are blood vessels that act as pumps to
force the blood along. Instead of capillaries, blood vessels join
directly with open sinuses.
2.Closed circulatory system:.
Here blood is pumped through a closed system of arteries, veins,
and capillaries. Capillaries surround the organs, making sure that
all cells have an equal opportunity for nourishment and removal
of their waste products.
Circulatory system of Fish
The circulatory system of fish consists of two main components:
the heart, and blood vessels
1.the heart consists of four parts, including
A. Sinus that collects blood from the fish's veins.
B.Atrium, which is a large muscular chamber. The atrium serves
as a one-way antechamber
C.Ventricle is another thick-walled, muscular chamber and it
pumps the blood.
D.Bulbous arteriosus, a large tube, and then out of the heart have
a four chambered heart.
2. Blood vessels consist of:
A. Arteries carry blood from the heart to the gills and then to the
rest of the organs and body tissues.
B. From the arteries the blood goes into smaller vessels called
capillaries and then into fluid surrounding the cells.
C. Veins carry carbon dioxide and waste products away from the
cells, back to the heart.
Circulatory system of Bird
Bird circulatory system consists of the heart, and the blood
vessels such as the arteries, veins and capillaries.
The bird heart has four chambers - two atria and two ventricles.
A. The right ventricle pumps blood to the lungs.
B. The left ventricle pumps blood to the rest of the body.
C. The right Atrium collect blood from the body.
D. The left Atrium collect blood from the lungs.
Circulatory system of Mammal
The main components of the mammals circulatory system are
heart, veins and blood vessels, and Its includes: the pulmonary
circulation and systemic circulation,
A. The Pulmonary circulation:. is the portion of the circulatory
system in which transports oxygen-depleted blood away from the
heart, to the lungs, and returns oxygenated blood back to the
heart.
B. Systemic circulation:. is the portion of the circulatory system
in which transports oxygenated blood away from the heart, to the
rest of the body, and returns oxygen-depleted blood back to the
heart.
