1) Lateral: is away from or further from the midline
Medial: is towards or closer to the midline
2) Proximal: Closer to the trunk or point of attachment; top of limb segment.
Distal: Away from the trunk or point of attachment; bottom of limb segment
3) Anterior: (ventral) Towards the front of the body
Posterior: (dorsal) Towards the back of the body
4) Superior: Towards the top of the body
Inferior: Towards the bottom of the body
5) Deep: Farther away from the surface of the body
Superficial: Closer to the surface of the body
6) Plantar: Towards the sole of the foot
Dorsum: Uppermost surface of the foot
