Literary 3x3
EACH group member will come to class tomorrow with a literary 3x3 for EACH chapter assigned to the group. That means you will have three,
three word sentences for EACH chapter. Literary 3x3’s must follow these rules:
A 3x3 WILL have:

Complete sentences (subject and predicate (The predicate is the verb phrase. It modifies the subject, the noun).

Effective word order

Strong words, especially verbs and adjectives
A 3x3 MAY also have:

Abstract nouns

Contractions using “is”
A 3x3 will NOT use the following:

Proper nouns/names

Repeated words

“to be” words

Pronouns

Clichés

A, an, the
Examples (from another novel)

Apathy strangles devotion. (abstract noun…apathy)

Lost heart’s saved. (adjective with contraction using “is”)

Bird justifies death.
Don’t worry about your first draft. You will go over these with your group and the class for revision. Think about what it is you want to say about
the chapter. What are the big and main ideas you want to get across to the reader.
