This firm has as its sole commercial purpose the objective of Maximizing its Profit.
It will be acknowledged as the most ordinary firm in its industry and region.

compensation, an unpleasant working environment, little opportunity for professional
advancement and personal growth and no involvement in the decision making process within the
firm.
There will be a low level of trust and mutual respect amongst all team members, owners and
clients.
Each person will not understand and subscribe to the firm’s mission and will be expected to assist
in its accomplishment.
The owners of the firm will not place the welfare of the firm and that of its clients above their own
self interests. However, it will always be understood that the owners can expect to receive fair
compensation reflecting the value of their contribution and the capital they have invested.

Business Planning and Management
While it might be your mission in life to become as rich as possible, going around telling your
clients that will not entice them to sign up with you. A good mission statement focuses on the
outcomes that the client will achieve. They must perceive you as being their company of choice. If
your prices are a little high, then this becomes even more critical.
Now see it, you can turn these comments around so that both you and the client
perceive a win/win situation.
(If you are struggling with this, look at the one used for JS Homes Ltd.)

client is not interested in you; he is interested in what you can do for him.)

To
To
To
complete the project on time
complete the project within budget
complete the project to the standards specified (no greater, no less)
maintain the relationship with the client
In order to achieve these four outcomes, the process around finding the right person for the job needs to
be identified and followed diligently. A good source for this information is the approach taken by The
Mechanical Contractors Association of America, which is along the following lines.
A.
Resource Management
The efficient planning, organizing and scheduling of the following elements
Labour
Tools
Subcontractors
“Install Only” items
Materials

Equipment for installation
Construction equipment (rental and company-owned)
Supplies
These are the resources that you have to plan, organize and schedule so that you get the maximum benefit
from each element. Remember, “the sum of the parts should be greater than the whole.” For example,
using labour, subcontractors and materials in an effective or innovative way can lead to additional cost and
time savings.
B.

each of these.
