Video Section One: Etruscans
Before the Romans there was the Etruscans
o When Greece explored the Med Sea they found an advanced society already in Italy
o Etruscans were known for their works of art
o Especially known for their metal and metal works that they traded far
o Also famous for their open views of affection between men and women which
scandalized the rest of the world
The Romans grew up in Etruscans Shadows
o Learned everything from the Etruscans
o Learned dark stuff too – like gladiator games. Etruscans sacrificed prisoner of war
slaves at funerals of rich people

Another secret to Rome’s success was their ability to organize themselves. Give
examples of how they did this.
