(2009) reported that the w-3 (white egg 3) mutant, characterized by white eggs and eyes and translucent larval skin, results from a single base deletion in an ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter gene. In addition, an amino acid transporter is responsible for the os (sex-lin ...

We will not describe here their effects on insulin secretion and glucose metabolism, as they will be thoroughly covered in the chapter by Dezaki et al. [this vol.]. We w ...

As flower pigments of I. nil and I. purpurea are anthocyanidin 3-O-sophoroside derivatives (Figure 1f), we hypothesized that the newly isolated cDNAs encode 3GGT, which adds a glucose molecule to anthocyanidin 3-O-glucosides forming anthocyanidin 3-O-sophorosides (Figure 1h), because the substrates ...

Long Noncoding RNA as a Regulator for Transcription

... Binding of pncRNAs to TLS induces its recruitment to CBP/p300, major HAT activity in animal cells, and inhibition of their HAT activity (Fig. 2.4). Together with these data, it is suggested that expression of cyclin D1 gene could be repressed by pncRNAs through binding to TLS. This should be a mecha ...

We now show evidence for increased mRNA levels ...

Epigenetics of diabetes Type 2

In recent years it has become apparent that the environment and underlying mechanisms affect gene expression and the genome outside of the central dogma of biology. It has been found that many Epigenetic mechanisms are involved in the regulation and expression of genes such as DNA methylation and chromatin remodeling. These epigenetic mechanisms are believed to be a contributing factor to pathological diseases such as Diabetes type II. An understanding of the epigenome of Diabetes patients may help to elucidate otherwise hidden causes of this disease.
