... The importance of methionine acquisition and synthesis for S. pneumoniae growth and virulence has been reported before (Basavanna et al., 2013). In this study, we explored the impact of methionine on the transcriptome of S. pneumoniae D39. To do so, we performed transcriptome comparison of S. pneumo ...

... In addition to negative regulation by the lac repressor, the lac operon also required positive regulation. That is, a factor was needed for specific activation of the operon. The specific activator was called CAP ( Catabolic activator protein) produced by the gene crp (not part of the lac operon). C ...

Epigenetics of diabetes Type 2

In recent years it has become apparent that the environment and underlying mechanisms affect gene expression and the genome outside of the central dogma of biology. It has been found that many Epigenetic mechanisms are involved in the regulation and expression of genes such as DNA methylation and chromatin remodeling. These epigenetic mechanisms are believed to be a contributing factor to pathological diseases such as Diabetes type II. An understanding of the epigenome of Diabetes patients may help to elucidate otherwise hidden causes of this disease.
