Heritability of X Chromosome-inactivation Phenotype in a Large

... 365 women, were found to have e80% of their lymphocytes with the same X chromosome active. Initially we found this observation surprising, but this estimate is similar to that reported by other investigators using either the AR methylation assay on total lymphocytes from normal females (3 [15%] of 2 ...

silicon nanowire biosensor for studying nuclear hormone receptor

... Estrogen receptors (ERs) are members of a superfamily of nuclear receptors that function as ligand-modulated transcriptional regulators. The ERs mainly function as a DNA binding transcription factor that regulates gene expression. They play a key role in many normal physiological processes, but prom ...

The deduced primary structure reveals a highly repetitive protein that contains essentially three repeated modules (figure 1): The first repeated module is the EGF-like module that is homologous to one found in the epidermal growth factor. These modules contain six cysteine residues that form three ...

In any given environment, the fitness of an aneuploid appears to reflect a combination of these general negative impacts of aneuploidy along with any phenotypes associated with the particular pattern of chromosome (and hence gene) copy number change. Part 2 - Laboratory of Aquaculture & Artemia Reference Center

... This review claims attention of genomic researchers about a tiny crustacean Artemia. Apart from serving as livefeed in aquaulture industries, Artemia seems to be the ultimate model for several genomic puzzles. Genomic research on Artemia at the molecular level is still in its infancy and a complete ...

NEDD9

Neural precursor cell expressed developmentally down-regulated protein 9 (NEDD-9) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NEDD9 gene. NEDD-9 is also known as enhancer of filamentation 1 (EF1), CRK-associated substrate-related protein (CAS-L), and Cas scaffolding protein family member 2 (CASS2). An important paralog of this gene is BCAR1.
