changes in high flows in Sweden in the past and the future (1911

... To explore this issue in Sweden, we merged observed time series for the past century from 69 gauging sites throughout the country (450 000 km2 ) with high-resolution dynamic model projections of the upcoming century. The results show that the changes in annual maximum daily flows in Sweden oscillate ...

Model studies generally employ freshwater forcing in the North Atlantic to mimic D/O-like fluctuations (e.g. Ganopolski and Rahmstorf, 2001), but the ultimate source of such a forcing has not been identified. Alternatively, a Southern Ocean origin of abrupt climate changes has al ...

Unprecedented insights into both short-term (i.e., decadalto centennial-scale) and long-term (i.e., orbital-scale) climate variability over the last 740 kyr have been derived from ice cores from polar regions (Dansgaard et al., 1993; EPICA community members, 2004). These records show that the higher ...

Instrumental temperature record

The instrumental temperature record shows fluctuations of the temperature of earth's climate system. Initially the instrumental temperature record only documented land and sea surface temperature, but in recent decades instruments have also begun recording ocean temperature. Data is collected from thousands of meteorological stations around the globe and through satellite observations. The longest-running temperature record is the Central England temperature data series, that starts in 1659. The longest-running quasi-global record starts in 1850.
