Increasing water cycle extremes in California and in relation to

... The role of climate variability in modulating water cycle extremes provides a key for anticipating the occurrence of extreme hydrological events. The El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) has long been recognized as the prime climate modulator of precipitation and snowpack in California11–13. However ...

The material above shows that mitigation—emission reduction—does not have major effects until post 2040 so adaptation is certainly appropriate today. However sole reliance on a ...

LARS-WG A Stochastic Weather Generator for Use in Climate

... LARS-WG is based on the series weather generator described in Racsko et al. (1991). It utilises semi-empirical distributions for the lengths of wet and dry day series, daily precipitation and daily solar radiation. The semi-empirical distribution Emp= { a0, ai; hi, i=1,.…,10} is a histogram with ten ...

Large brown seaweeds of the British Isles

Instrumental temperature record

The instrumental temperature record shows fluctuations of the temperature of earth's climate system. Initially the instrumental temperature record only documented land and sea surface temperature, but in recent decades instruments have also begun recording ocean temperature. Data is collected from thousands of meteorological stations around the globe and through satellite observations. The longest-running temperature record is the Central England temperature data series, that starts in 1659. The longest-running quasi-global record starts in 1850.
