... [Supplemental material is available online at www.genome.org. The sequence data from this study have been submitted to dbGSS under accession nos. 15028937–15029063.] Sex is believed to have evolved as a mechanism to break apart and recombine genetic material (Michod and Levin 1988). The exchange of ...

... As far as we can ascertain few, if any, of the so-called C. novyi strains had been tested in our laboratory specifically for the a toxin when originally identified, although some guinea pig inoculations had been performed in the 1970s but records are sketchy. However, all gave biochemical profiles – ...

... Only samples with less than 50-bp missing data were included in the analyses. The missing data are due to the heterozygosity of indels in some samples or to various other reasons during the sequencing process. Therefore, slightly different sample set were used for different starch genes. Statistics ...

Pathogenomics

Pathogen infections are among the leading causes of infirmity and mortality among humans and other animals in the world. Until recently, it has been difficult to compile information to understand the generation of pathogen virulence factors as well as pathogen behaviour in a host environment. The study of Pathogenomics attempts to utilize genomic and metagenomics data gathered from high through-put technologies (e.g. sequencing or DNA microarrays), to understand microbe diversity and interaction as well as host-microbe interactions involved in disease states. The bulk of pathogenomics research concerns itself with pathogens that affect human health; however, studies also exist for plant and animal infecting microbes.
