JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Director of Marketing/Communications/PR

PURPOSE:
Responsible for planning, development and implementation of all of RZIM’s marketing
strategies, marketing communications, and public relations activities, both external and
internal. Oversees development and implementation of support materials and services
for departments and initiatives in the area of marketing, communications and public
relations. Directs the efforts of the marketing, communications and public relations staff
and coordinates at the strategic and tactical levels with the other functions of RZIM.
SUPERVISION:
Director of Marketing/Communications/PR reports directly to the Global Executive
Director, with a dotted line to the Global Media Director
RESPONSIBILITIES:









Plans, directs and coordinates the communications, marketing and public
relations strategies for the organization
Continually evaluates the timely adjustment of these strategies to meet changing
conditions and environments
Recommends changes in marketing and policy when such changes serve the best
interest of the organization.
Work with all the RZIM global brands
Direct the overall look and feel of the RZIM websites working in collaboration
with the Global Media director.
Work with the development team to assist in their goals
Work with the Operations Director of US Ministries and North American
Director to assist in their goals
Provides advice and guidance to various operating units to ensure overall
marketing and communications effectiveness
Develops broad strategic initiatives to fulfill the leadership vision and sets policies
that facilitate their implementation















Ensure articulation of RZIM’s desired image and position, ensure consistent
communication of image and position throughout the organization, and assure
communication of image and position to all constituencies, both internal and
external.
Responsible for the achievement of marketing/communications/public relations
mission, goals and financial objectives.
Ensure that evaluation systems are in place related to these goals and objectives
and report progress to the Global Executive Director, Global Media Director,
and Board.
Develop short- and long-term plans and budgets for the
marketing/communications/ public relations program and its activities, monitor
progress, ensure adherence and evaluate performance.
Recommend short- and long-term organization goals and objectives to the
Global Executive Director.
Develop, implement and monitor systems and procedures necessary to the
smooth operation of the marketing/communications/public relations function.
Keep informed of developments in the fields of marketing, communications and
public relations, and the specific business of RZIM and use this information to
help the organization operate with initiative and innovation.
Advises the Global Executive Director on organizational climate and competitive
conditions affecting strategic direction
Work closely with the Global Media Director in a dotted line reporting and
primary relationship
Work with the Human Resources Manager to hire appropriate staffing for the
department. Clearly communicate job expectations and encourage employee
accountability and growth through performance reviews and goal setting.
Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals and expect
accountability and regular feedback
Consciously create a workplace culture that is consistent with the organization's
stated mission, vision, and values. Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among
department members that allows for collaboration, expeditious conflict
resolution, and the appreciation of diversity as well as cohesiveness
Maintain transparent, timely communication, including regularly scheduled
meetings with employees and the department
Ensure effective management within the marketing, communications and public
relations function, with provision for succession.
Sign an annual statement of recommitment to RZIM’s Statement of Faith and
Values
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:


Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of
marketing, communications and public relations activities.
Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal sales skills.



















Experience developing and managing budgets, and hiring, training, developing,
supervising and appraising personnel.
Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and
publications.
Experience in digital marketing
Computer literacy in word processing, data base management and page layout.
Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.
Strong oral and written communications skills.
Excellent organizational management skills - must have the ability to set
priorities, take initiative, and manage diverse responsibilities; must be able to
work well under pressure and meet department objectives and goals
Strong, effective written and spoken communication skills with an ability to
communicate cross-culturally with an internationally diverse team
Must have had international experience or the ability to think with a global
mindset
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a department and department staff
members - must be a “connector” - able to link people, ideas, and resources –
and an “encourager” – able to motivate people with positive, constructive
affirmation
Demonstrated ability to serve as a knowledgeable resource to the organization's
management team
Must be a team player and be willing to receive and act on direction;
management experience in a team-oriented workplace is preferred
Evidence of and a commitment to practice a high level of confidentiality
Proven ability to work across and network with a wide range of differing
Christian groups and denominations
Proven ability to build relationships at all levels
Must be based in the Atlanta HQ office
Must be in agreement with and committed to upholding RZIM’s Statement of
Faith and Statement of Values, as well as its stated Mission and Vision.
Bachelor’s Degree is required; Graduate level degrees are encouraged
Out-of-town, overnight travel is required.
