B-68 Purchase Spare Transformer, $1,354,000
2
Q.
3
Is it possible to remove a transformer from another location and re-install it at
Upper Salmon in the event of the failure of the unit to be replaced?
4
5
6
A.
It is not practical or cost effective to remove a transformer from another
7
location and reinstall it at Upper Salmon. The design of the other
8
transformers is specific to their particular locations. That is, their physical
9
arrangement, size, shape, high voltage terminations, and controls wiring
10
configurations have been designed specifically for the location intended. This
11
generally makes them unsuitable for installation in other locations.
12
13
The spare transformer being proposed in this project will be designed such
14
that the high voltage terminations and controls wiring configurations will be
15
‘generic’ and suitable for practical and cost effective adaptation to the
16
different locations identified in the project proposal.
