POWER FACTOR MEASUREMENT AND CONTROL
It is used to measure and control Power factor usingPIC16F877. It consists of
Current Transformer, Potential Transformer, Precision Rectifier, bridge Rectifier,
Micro controller unit, Keypad and Liquid crystal Display.
Maintaining of power factor in between 0.8 to 1 is the industrial standard, by using
this system we can maintain that standard with the help capacitor bank.
Current Transformer:
Purpose of Current transformer is to sensing of current with respect to load. Main
property of the current transformer is change in secondary voltage with respect to
load current in primary.
Potential Transformer:
Main property Potential Transformer is change in secondary voltage with respect
to Primary voltage. It is used to step down voltage process because normally in the
circuit we will use low voltage device.
Precision Rectifier:
Output of current Transformer voltage is less than 0.7 voltage due to can't rectified
by normal rectifier, if rectify below 0.7 voltage used in Precision Rectifier. The
output is connected to the one of the Exclusive OR gate input.
Micro controller unit:
To control of all part of this unit used in Micro controller unit,power factor value
set in the unit throughout keypad and present power factor value displayed through
Liquid crystal display.
Capacitor Bank:
If you need power factor value is increased, the capacitor bank
connected with load. The capacitor bank in each capacitor
connected with load via Relay.
