Web Banner Ad Step-by-Step Guide Once you click Get Started or Create an Ad from financing.paypal.com, you will be directed to the PayPal Banner Ad Builder. Select the “On My Website” option to choose your website banner ads. Please note that for credit compliance purposes, you shouldn’t use banner ads created for websites in your emails or on your eBay Store; conversely, you shouldn’t use banner ads created for eBay or emails on your website. PayPal Credit takes every precaution to make sure that the banner ads on your site meet credit regulatory requirements. Please do not modify or alter the banner images or code. 1 Step 1: Select your ad size Our banner ads are available in a number of sizes. Place your mouse over the pixel dimensions that are the size and shape of the banner you would like to use. You’ll be able to preview how the banner ads look, then click on the one that will work best for your website. If the banner ad you picked doesn’t fit in your desired location, you can always go back and choose a different one. 2 Step 1 Step 2: Copy secure banner code Once you select a banner ad size you will see the code displayed on the next page of the Ad Builder. Highlight all the code by clicking the blue “Select All” button. Next, copy the highlighted content by going to “Edit” in the menu bar and selecting “Copy”. Make sure you have selected and copied all the code, to ensure your banners function and look correct. It is also important not to modify or alter the banner images or code to ensure they meet regulatory requirements. You will need to go through this process for each banner ad size you would like to use. 1 Step 2 Web Banner Ad Step-by-Step Guide 3 Step 3: Paste the code If you use a browser-based web design editor: Open a new browser window or tab and log in to the admin page of your website. Navigate to the page on your site that you would like to place the banner. Paste what you just copied within the HTML where you want the banner to appear on your web page by going to “Edit” in the menu bar and selecting “Paste”. Again, it is very important not to modify or alter the banner code to ensure it meets regulatory requirements. Save the changes you made and go to your live site to make sure the banner appears the way you want it to (banners may not show in preview mode). If you use a web design application: Open your site in your web design application and navigate to the page that you would like to place the banner. Paste what you just copied within the HTML where you want the banner to appear on your web page by going to “Edit” in the menu bar and selecting “Paste”. Again, it is very important not to modify or alter the banner code to ensure it meets regulatory requirements. Make sure you save the changes to the page and upload it to your server, overwriting the existing page that does not contain the banner code. Need more help? For different banner sizes on additional pages, be sure to get new code for the each banner. 2 Step 3 NOTE: The highlighted area shows the pasted banner code. This is only sample code; please use the actual code that you copy from the Ad Builder, as the code differs for each merchant. Web Banner Ad Step-by-Step Guide 4 Step 4: Confirm your banner ad placement(s) Go to your live website to view your banner ads. This may require refreshing the page and clearing the cookies and cache. It can take up to 30 minutes for your banners to activate. Thank you for placing a web banner ad on your site. If you need another size, create another banner ad now, by returning to step one. If you aren’t seeing your banner ads on your website here are a few troubleshooting tips to try: • Make sure you pasted all the code into your website. • Confirm that you placed the code into the location on your site where you want the banner to display. • Check that you didn’t cut any existing code on your website off with the new code. • If you needed to upload pages to your server, make sure the updated pages are the ones on your server. • If you are viewing your page in preview mode, save your changes and go to your live site. Banners may not show in preview mode. Need additional help? Visit our Help Center. Many questions can be answered by viewing our step by step video. For additional assistance Contact Us.
