KULR-TV, the Cowles Montana Media owned NBC affiliate in Billings, MT is
seeking an entry to medium level Broadcast/IT Maintenance Engineer, reporting
to the Chief Engineer. This is a full-time 40hr/week position. The ideal candidate
will have a passion, drive, ambition and dedication to quality control of local news
production and the day-to-day engineering and IT operations. We are looking for
a person with a positive, enthusiastic, team-oriented attitude with good
communication skills, a willingness to work in a dynamic broadcast news
environment and wont shy away from a challenge.
The Maintenance Engineer maintains the technical integrity of the station's on-air
signals and its equipment from acquisition to distribution. This position supports
all station efforts in-house and on remote locations.
Ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of IT networking, PC
troubleshooting and repair. Candidate should have a basic understanding of a
television news environment, and know what Closed Captioning is and why it's
important.
Essential Responsibilities:
 Must be able to lift 75lbs.
 Must be able to work occasional long shifts and occasional local travel
 Aid in the installation, repair & maintenance of audio, video, RF, and server
based broadcast systems
 Respond to technical emergencies; address prompt restoration of outages.
 Ability to work independently on assignments and report back on progress
 Organizational and planning skills
 Aid in the documentation and design of broadcast and IT systems
 Provide accurate and timely technical changes to Engineering staff to keep
the facility up to date
 Training of staff as needed
 Ability to learn and repair analog and digital television equipment.
 Familiar with configuring/troubleshooting Windows Server and/or Linux based
systems.

Salary will be commensurate with experience. This position offers health and
insurance upon 90 days of employment, as well as retirement benefits, vacation,
holiday, and sick time accrual.
