Toensurethesuccessofthestudents,thefollowingisexpected:allassignments,includingreadingassignments,tobe
completedontime.Attendanceisanessentialrequirementofthiscourseandistheresponsibilityofthestudenttobe
inclasseveryday.Itisyourresponsibilitytoobtainanymissingassignmentswhenyouareabsent.Thismustbedone
beforeorafterclass,NOTduringclassroominstructiontime.Thenumberofdaysabsentwillbethenumberofdays

COURSEDESCRIPTION
WorldHistoryStudiesisanoverviewoftheentirehistoryofhumankind.Themajoremphasisisonthestudy
ofsignificantpeople,events,andissuesfromtheearliesttimestothepresent.Traditionalhistoricalpoints
ofreferenceinworldhistoryareidentifiedasstudentsanalyzeimportanteventsandissuesinwestern
civilizationaswellasincivilizationsinotherpartsoftheworld.Studentsevaluatethecausesandeffectsof
politicalandeconomicimperialismandofmajorpoliticalrevolutionssincethe17thcentury.Students
examinetheimpactofgeographicfactorsonmajorhistoriceventsandidentifythehistoricoriginsof
contemporaryeconomicsystems.Studentsanalyzetheprocessbywhichdemocratic-republican
governmentsevolvedaswellastheideasfromhistoricdocumentsthatinfluencedthatprocess.Students
tracethehistoricaldevelopmentofimportantlegalandpoliticalconcepts.Studentsexaminethehistoryand
impactofmajorreligiousandphilosophicaltraditions.Studentsanalyzetheconnectionsbetweenmajor
developmentsinscienceandtechnologyandthegrowthofindustrialeconomies,andtheyusetheprocess
ofhistoricalinquirytoresearch,interpret,andusemultiplesourcesofevidence.
