ADVICE TO PASSENGERS COMING FROM AREAS WITH
CONFIRMED CASES OF NOVEL INFLUENZA VIRUS
Dear passengers,
There has been a recent outbreak of a novel influenza virus which spreads
from human to human. Cases of human infection have been reported in
various parts of the world.
What are the symptoms of novel influenza virus infection in humans?
Infection symptoms for this virus are similar to the symptoms of seasonal
influenza: chills, fever, fatigue, body aches, sore throat, and cough.
How does the novel influenza virus infection spread?
The new virus spreads the same way as the seasonal influenza virus – by direct
contact with an infected person, i.e. when coughing, sneezing, talking etc., or by
touching an object which has been infected by contagious respiratory secretions
of that person.
What to pay attention to after returning home?
We advise that the first seven days after returning from an area with confirmed
cases of novel influenza virus you monitor your health condition carefully. In
case you start experiencing nausea, fever, sore throat, cough and muscle pain,
you should immediately consult your doctor and seek their advice.
If you fall ill, make sure you don't spread the disease:
-
Stay at home and keep away from people as much as possible for the first
seven days of your return – even longer if the symptoms persist;
Wash your hands with soap and water frequently – wash them every time
you infect them with secretions from coughing, sneezing or sniffing;
-
Cover your nose and mouth with disposable tissues when sneezing,
coughing and sniffing – always dispose of the used tissues properly;
Do not share your cutlery, drinking glasses or any other objects which
come in contact with saliva or other infectious respiratory secretions.
