NOTICE TO PASSENGERS ON NOVEL INFLUENZA VIRUS
OUTBREAK
Dear passengers,
There has been a recent outbreak of a novel influenza virus which spreads from human to
human Symptoms of novel influenza virus infection are similar to the symptoms of seasonal
influenza: chills, fever, fatigue, body aches, sore throat, and cough. The novel influenza virus
spreads the same way as the seasonal influenza virus – by direct contact with an infected person,
while coughing, sneezing, talking etc., or by touching an object which has been infected by
contagious respiratory secretions.
There have been reported cases of novel influenza virus infection in various parts of the
world.
We advise you to take the following preventive measures:
-
Read the information which is available on the web pages of the National Institute
of Public Health of the Republic of Slovenia (http://www.ivz.si), the World Health
Organization (http://www.who.int/en/) and the European Centre for Disease
Prevention and Control (http://ecdc.europa.eu/);
-
Wash your hands with soap and water frequently or disinfect them with cleaning
tissues;
-
Avoid crowded places;
-
Keep away from sick people;
-
Follow the instructions of local health authorities carefully;
-
Consult a doctor in the country of your visit if you get a fever or show signs of
respiratory infection.
We advise that the FIRST SEVEN DAYS after returning from an area with confirmed
cases of novel influenza virus infections you monitor your health condition carefully. In
case you start experiencing nausea, fever, sore throat, cough and muscle pain, you should
immediately consult your doctor and seek their advice.
If you fall ill, make sure you don't spread the disease:
-
Stay at home and keep away from people as much as possible for the first seven
days of your return – even longer if the symptoms persist;
-
Wash your hands with soap and water frequently – wash them every time you
contaminate them with secretions from coughing, sneezing or sniffing;
-
Cover your nose and mouth with disposable tissues when sneezing, coughing and
sniffing – always dispose of the used tissues properly;
-
Do not share your cutlery, drinking glasses or any other objects which come in
contact with saliva or other infectious respiratory secretions.
