Job Posting May 5, 2017 The Dean A. McGee Eye Institute is recruiting for the following open full-time position: TITLE: Ophthalmic Assistant Trainee / Lawton, Oklahoma REPORTS TO: Technician Supervisor EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED SUMMARY: Assists in providing high quality patient care after completion of a 12 week Training Program. This includes written exams, a week to week rotation to meet the criteria of the training program, and a formal skills evaluation upon completion. SKILLS: EXPERIENCE: Good reading and writing skills. Good verbal communication skills. Basic computer skills Ability to work in close contact with patients in a caring, professionally competent manner. Ability to perform tasks accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision under moderately stressful situations. Prefer one year experience in a health care facility, preferably in direct patient care. JOB DUTIES: 1. Accurately record patient health and ocular history. Perform a variety of specialized screening tests related to an eye exam in preparation for an exam performed by an optometrist or ophthalmologist. 2. Performs a variety of tests as directed by a physician to include visual acuity tests, lensometry, pupillary exam, keratometry, tonometry, retinoscopy/refraction, PAM, BAT, topography, color vision tests, Amsler grid, stereopsis, schirmers, pachymeter measurements, , worth 4 dot, Humphrey visual field test, blood pressure and blood sugar screening 3.
