Introduction
 The third generation which is 3G
services combines high speed
mobile access with IP and IP
stand for internet protocol based
services.

Now the third generation which is
3G systems is faster than 1G and
2G

This 3G technology enables cell
phone to give very high speed of
internet access and also help to
transfer file, video and pictures in
high speed.
History and background

NTT Docomo is the first person who launched 3G offered for commercial
use in Japan. The brand name for network is FOMA and it introduced in
2001 and technology W-CDMA was pre-release. In October 1, 2001 the
NTT DOCOMO initial commercial launch of 3G in Japan, but the technology
was still very limited.

The second network that was released in South Korea commercially live by
SK Telecom and this thing happen in January 2002 the technology was
1xEV-DO. The second 3G network from South Korea was on 1xEV-DO by
KTF in May 2002.

In Europe the Manx Telecom first pre-commercial network releases by Isle
of Man and during that time the operator went by the British telecom. In
December 2001 the Telenor opened the first commercial network.

In the United States Monet Mobile network was the first 3G network
released commercially and that one was on CDMA2000 1x EV-DO
technology but in some time the network supplier had to shut down this
operation because Verizon wireless released the second 3G network which
was on October 2003
Overlook on Predecessor

As we know that there are 1G, 2G
and 3G. In 1G they give only talk
services and the technology they use
and called as AMPS and this is for
advanced mobile phone service.

In 2G they use digital voice service
and data service and the
technologies they use in 2G such as
CDMA-code division multiple access,
TDMA-time division multiple access,
GSM-Global system for cell phone
communications, PDC-personal
digital cellular.

In 3G the technology is used such as
W-CDMA-wide-band code division
multiple access, CDMA-200, TDSCDMA-Time-Division synchronous
code division multiple-access
technologies and 3G also has the
superior voice quality and up to 2M
bit/second.

been implemented
 Power consumption is
high
