Vigil for Life
Executive Director
Position Description
In order to successfully close Planned Parenthood’s abortion facility on Madison’s
east side (3706 Orin Road Madison, WI 53704), the board of directors of Vigil for
Life desires to expand the prayerful presence on the sidewalk in front of the abortion
center. To build on the nearly 30 hours per week of prayerful presence coordinated by
volunteers, Vigil for Life Board of Directors wants to hire a part-time executive
director to complement the work of the Volunteer Director and the network of
dedicated volunteers.

salary of this position, including payroll taxes and other fees.
Salary: $12.75 per hour but paid as a salaried position.
Hours: 15 hours per week.
Location: This position is designed as a work-from-home position in addition
to local travel.
Benefits: There will be 3 weeks of paid vacation/sick time each year.
Reporting: The Executive Director will report to the board of directors and
cooperate with the Volunteer Director.
Duties:
1. To build the prayerful presence through networking, inspiring
existing volunteers to take on monthly or weekly commitments and
recruiting new volunteers through personal invitations (and, in many

local pro-life groups, parish groups, non-denominational church groups,
men’s groups, women’s groups, etc.
2. To assist the Volunteer Director in the coordination of 40 Days for
Life, ensuring that the vigil schedule is filled, making calls as needed, and
acting as the emergency contact during the campaign.
3. To take an active role in the 365 for Life campaign, assuming a Vigil
Captain role for one week each month and praying weekly (where
possible) on the sidewalk.
4. To execute web site updates, weekly e-mails and e-mail list
administration, keeping our volunteer base up-to-date with pertinent
information as well as making sure that volunteers don’t fall through the
cracks.
5. To join the Volunteer Director as the public face of Vigil for Life,
participating in media interviews, collaboration with the Women’s Care
Center and contact with volunteers and community members.
6. Additional Duties: The executive director will also maintain the post
office box for Vigil for Life, checking it for correspondence. He or she
will work with the treasurer to ensure that the bank accounts are in good
order.
7. As Assigned: The executive director will complete other duties and
special projects as assigned by the Vigil for Life Board of Directors.

abortion will end through God’s direct action through His people.
 The executive director should be comfortable praying and sidewalk
counseling (training can be offered) on the sidewalk.
 Strong speaking and interpersonal skills are a must as the executive
director will constantly be sharing the mission of Vigil for Life with
individuals and for large groups.
