The volunteer coordinator serves as a public representative of the agency, cultivating relationships with
agencies, community members and volunteers. This is a 50% time position with possibility of increase.
Responsibilities of the volunteer coordinator include, but are not limited to:
 Serving as a public representative of the organization, including cultivating relationships with
community members, prospective volunteers and supporters to build awareness of and
commitment to the mission of Freedom House. Responsible for public relations and special
events as assigned.
 Overseeing the maintenance and expansion of the organization’s database of supporters and
volunteers; recruit, develop, track and support agency volunteers.
 Organize and direct the sixty-hour agency volunteer training program.
 Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual reports as requested by the position’s supervisor.
 Actively reinforcing organizational culture and agreements; maintain good relations with staff
members and all confidentiality policies of the organization.
 Maintains agency records and work space in an orderly fashion.
 Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
 High School diploma or equivalent.
 Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to recruit and motivate volunteers.
 Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
 Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and agency software applications.
 Ability to work with diverse groups of people; sound judgment, professionalism and positive
attitude; resourcefulness, creativity and strong problem-solving skills.
 Possession of a valid Illinois Driver’s License and proof of insurance.
