CCNP – Cisco Certified Network Professional -Routing and Switching
What is CCNP, and why should I take this class?
So glad you asked! The CCNP certification validates the ability to plan,
implement, verify and troubleshoot local and wide-area enterprise networks and
work collaboratively with specialists on advanced security, voice, wireless and
video solutions. You should take this class if you love networking and want to
make a career of it.
What will I learn?
Three classes prepare you for the three exams required to earn certification:
• Implementing Cisco IP Routing: Advanced IP addressing and routing in
• implementing scalable and highly secure Cisco routers that are connected to LANs, WANs, and IPv6.
• Implementing Cisco IP Switched Networks: Planning, configuring, and verifying the implementation of complex
enterprise switching solutions that use the Cisco Enterprise Campus Architecture.
• Troubleshooting and Maintaining Cisco IP Network: Plan and perform regular maintenance on complex enterprise
routed and switched networks; use technology-based practices and a systematic ITIL-compliant approach to perform
network troubleshooting.
What are the class prerequisites?
A valid Cisco CCNA Routing and Switching certification or any Cisco CCIE certification. The required knowledge and
skills before attending the Route and Switch classes are:
• Describing network fundamentals
• Configuring and troubleshooting EIGRP and OSPF
(IPv4/IPv6)
• Establishing Internet and WAN connectivity (IPv4/IPv6)
• Configuring devices for SNMP, Syslog, and NetFlow
• Managing network device security
access
• Operating a medium-sized LAN with multiple switches,
• Managing Cisco device configurations, Cisco IOS
• VLANs, trunking, and spanning tree
images, and licenses
• Troubleshooting IP connectivity (IPv4/IPv6)
The required knowledge and skills before attending the Troubleshooting class are:
• Layer 2 switching
• Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP)
• VLANs, VLAN access control lists, port security
• Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)
• Switch security issues and link aggregation protocols
• Layer 3 path control and Redistribution
• Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)
• Internal and External Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)
• Inter-VLAN routing solutions branch office operations
• IPv6 Networking
• First Hop Redundancy Protocols (FHRPs) HSRP,VRRP, and GLBP

Will my tuition assistance program benefits cover the cost, and how much does it cost?
The ROUTE class is $1783; SWITCH is $1750, and TSHOOT is $1783. Your tuition assistance program covers the cost of the
classes, the materials, and one certification exam voucher, per class. There are no out-of-pocket expenses, if you have enough funds
in your tuition assistance account. Wow! You can earn an internationally-recognized certification with no out-of-pocket expenses!
