SS8 – Pathways - EarlyMid5 – Judaism, Christianity & Islam Judaism, Christianity & Islam The three major monotheic (belief in one God) religions of the world, Judaism, Islam and Christianity are all closely related. All three arose from the same geographic area (Palestine) in the Middle East. Jews form their belief around their holy book the Torah, and base their lifestyle around the Ten Commandments. Christians base their belief around the teachings of Jesus Christ who taught that the two greatest commandments were to love God and to love your neighbour as yourself. Muslims, or followers of the religion of Islam, form their belief around the teachings of who they believe is the final prophet, Mohammed. Mohammed’s teachings are found in the Muslim holy book the Qur’an (or Koran). Christians believe in Jewish teachings such as the Ten Commandments and Muslims include Jesus Christ as his teachings in their Qur’an, so all three religions are closely linked.
