Social Studies Essay!!
After China’s test, you will be writing a five paragraph essay to describe the
Ming Dynasty and how it increased prosperity and expanded China’s fame
overseas before changing to a policy of isolationism. In your World History class,
you will be getting all of the content needed for this essay.
Below is how your essay should be structured. You will be given class notes to
help with all content. However, you will have to construct your essay and prove
your statements with evidence. In each paragraph you will need a ACE. Of
course, you will use the evidence given to you in class.
Paragraph 1:
In your introduction, lead your reader to your claim. Your claim
should be the last sentence in the first paragraph. Your claim is: The Ming
dynasty increased prosperity and expanded China’s fame overseas before
changing to a policy of isolationism.
Paragraph 2: In your second paragraph describe how the Ming dynasty
increased prosperity and expanded China’s fame overseas. Your topic sentence
is: The Ming dynasty expanded China’s fame by building the Forbidden
City.
Paragraph 3: In your third paragraph describe how China expanded fame
overseas. Your topic sentence is: The Ming dynasty also increased
prosperity and expanded China’s fame overseas through its seven sea
voyages.
Paragraph 4: The fourth paragraph is your conclusion and you will discuss the
Ming’s change to isolationism (avoiding contact with other countries). Your topic
sentence is: The Ming dynasty changed their policy of exploration to
isolationism because …..
Paragraph 5: This is your conclusion paragraph. Make sure you “tell your reader
what you told them!” (re-state the claim, summarize main points, and end with a
parting comment)
