Muhiddin Dürrüoglu piano short biography Holder of numerous national and international prizes as a pianist and composer (Foundation of France Prize, Prize for Musical Creation of the Conservatory of Lutèce, A. de Greef Prize, I. Fuerison Prize of the Belgian Conservatory of Fine Arts, and the Nany Philippart Prize), Muhiddin’s career as a soloist and chamber musician has taken him to every continent. He is Professor of Chamber Music at the Brussels Royal Conservatory of Music. full biography Pianist and composer, Muhiddin Dürrüoglu started his musical education at the age of eleven at Ankara State Conservatory and began performing solo recitals and chamber music concerts at the age of twelve. At eighteen he entered the Royal Music Conservatory of Brussels and was subsequently admitted to the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel where he received a Virtuosity Diploma with ‘Grande Distinction‘ and continued his musical education at Indiana University in the United States. In 1991, as a finalist of the ‘European Piano Competition’ he was named Laureate of the ‘Nany Phillipart‘ competition. Four years later, he was named Laureate of ‘Fondation Belge de la Vocation‘ and was awarded the ‘J. W. Pelemans Prize‘ in 1997. Mr. Dürrüoglu has performed around the world and has been accompanied by orchestras on four continents with frequent appearances on television and radio. He has performed in Europe’s leading concert halls including: Flagey and Palais des Beaux Arts (Brussels), Queen Elisabeth Hall (Antwerpen), Salle Cortot, Les Invalides and Unesco Hall (Paris), Beethoven House (Bonn), Gürzenich (Köln), Philharmonie (Luxembourg), Tivoli (Copenhagen) and in prestigious festivals as Beethovenfest, Lichfield Festival, Festival de Wallonie, Flanders Festival, Istanbul and Ankara Music Festivals, Festival des Forêts and Juventus in France. Passionate about chamber music, Mr. Dürrüoglu’s regular partners include: Graf Mourja, Marc Danel, Ning Kam, Lise Berthaud, Hervé Joulain and clarinetist Ronald Van Spaendonck and renown cellist Marie Hallynck with whom he co-founded The ‘Kheops Ensemble’. Mr. Dürrüoglu is also an accomplished composer. He has received multiple awards including: the ‘Prix Arthur de Greef’ for his composition Six Preludes (1993) and the ‘Prix Irène Fuerison’ for his composition Nebula (2001) from the Academy of Fine Arts, Letters and Sciences of Belgium. He also received ‘La Coupe de la Création Musicale’ for his piece Contact (1993) from the Paris Lutèce Academy. The Chamber Music Composition competition of Hulste, Belgium also awarded Mr. Dürrüoglu the ‘Prix de Sabam’ for his composition Muhiddin Dürrüoglu kheops Muhiddin Dürrüoglu piano Contact II – Massspace (1996) and the ‘Prix of the City of Harelbeek’ for Varioactivité (2000). Mr. Dürrüoglu also won the ‘Prix de Composition’ of the International Piano Competition of 20th Century Music in Orléans, France for his composition Le Tourneur (2000). M. Dürrüoglu was honoured with the position of ‘Composer in Residence’ to the Juventus Festival (2011) and, today, remains a professor of Chamber Music at the Royal Music Conservatory of Brussels where he started teaching in 1992. M. Dürrüoglu’s CD recordings are published under the record labels of Fuga Libera, Pavane, Cyprès, Kalidisc, Talent, Megadisc and René Gailly.
