Organelle Project Your project is due Organelle Model: Research your organelle and learn more about it. You will be creating a model of your organelle that will hang in the classroom. Along with turning in your model you will be turning in a 1 page paper about your organelle. Organelle: Each group is assigned one or two of the following organelles: Nucleus, Chromosome, Ribosomes, Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum, Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum, Golgi Aparatus, Lysosome, Vacuole, Mitochondria, Chloroplast, Centriole, Cell Membrane, and Cell Wall. Organelle Model: The model should be about the size of a shoe box. A little bigger or a little smaller is okay too. The organelle needs to be visually pleasing and actually look like the real deal. It should also be light enough to be able to hang from the ceiling/wall. It should be labeled with your name, class period, and the actual organelle’s name. Organelle Summary: You are required to write a minimum of one page about your organelle. Your paper should include the organelle’s name and what its job is within the cell. You can also include who discovered it, when it was discovered, or other interesting facts about it. The paper should be at least one page in length, double spaced, and a size 12 font. If at all possible please word process your paper on a computer. Turning in the Assignment: Please turn your organelle model AND paper in at the same time. They do not need to be attached to each other. You must have your name and hour on both the paper and the organelle model. The model should also have the organelle name on it. Projects will be presented to the class on the due date. Note: Be creative and unique with your design. These will be hanging up in the room for the rest of the year. And don’t forget to have fun with it Organelle Project Your project is due Organelle Model: Research your organelle and learn more about it. And don’t forget to have fun with it Makeup assignment/Alternative assignment: Cell Analogy Poster: The cell is often compared to a factory because each part of the cell (each organelle) is of particular importance to the cell as a whole and contributes to a common function. This is also true of each of the parts of a factory. For example, mitochondria of a muscle cell (or any other cell for that matter) are like the power plant in a factory. The mitochondria produces ATP which fuels cell activities, and a power plant generates electricity that is the energy needed for the factory’s machinery to work. Your assignment is to make an analogy between a cell and its organelles and an organization/building/business or other place…Please don’t compare a cell to a school. Create a poster: Create a poster showing your cell analogy. It should have a drawing of what you are comparing to the cell. Each organelle should be shown as a room, or part of a business, etc. Title: Your poster needs a title written at the top. Organelle Comparisons: The following organelles should be represented in your poster. Nucleus, Chromosome, Ribosomes, Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum, Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum, Golgi Aparatus, Lysosome, Vacuole, Mitochondria, Chloroplast, Centriole, Cell Membrane, and Cell Wall. You should also state next to the organelles name how it compares to the organelle of a cell it is representing. This may be written in a sentence or two next to each organelle on your poster.
