Spelling Homework Complete 15 points of spelling homework each week. All work is due on Thursday. All assignments must demonstrate a good solid effort or full credit will not be given. Each assignment must be clearly labeled with the assignment number and point value or full credit will not be given. Please staple the assignments together. 1. Write a short story using at least 10 spelling words. Must be at least 2 paragraphs long. – 10 points 2. Create a cartoon strip using at least 10 spelling words. Must contain at least 6 frames with nicely colored pictures. This should take up a whole piece of paper. – 10 points 3. Write your spelling words in ABC order. – 5 points 4. Write each spelling word 3 times. – 5 points 5. Write each word you missed on the pretest 10 times. – 5 points 6. Write a poem using at least 10 spelling words. Poem must contain at least 8 lines and does not have to rhyme. – 5 points 7. Use graph paper to create a word search puzzle that includes all of your spelling words. The word search must take up about ¾ of the page. Highlight the words. – 10 points 8. Write all of your spelling words in a continuous line to form a picture or design. – 5 points 9. Draw and label pictures for at least 10 of your spelling words. Must be colored nicely. 10 points 10. Divide each spelling word into syllables. – 5 points 11. Write a newspaper article at least 2 paragraphs long using at least 10 of your spelling words. Be creative so that your paper looks like a newspaper! – 10 points 12. Write a simile or metaphor for at least 10 of your spelling words. -10 points 13. Use graph paper to make a crossword puzzle with clues for 15 of your spelling words. The crossword puzzle must take up about ¾ of the page. – 10 points 14. Create a game that can be played to practice your spelling words. – 10 points 15. Look up each word in a dictionary and write the definition. – 10 points 16. Write a song or a rap with at least 10 of the spelling words. – 5 points 17.
