A separate writing piece will be required North America: Pearl Harbor (1941) On the day of the attack of Pearl Harbor, it is being remembered as one of the worst tragedies during World War II. The battle of Pearl Harbor began on December 8th in the morning. 2,400 servicemen were killed on the day that Pearl Harbor was bombed. This attack was a plan for Japan to use so that they can destroy the Americans’ will to fight in the world war which unfortunately failed for Japan. This was bombing took place in Hawaii. Franklin Delano Roosevelt was furious and decided to declare war for Japan. Women in World War II (1940) American women entered the workforce in very big numbers The percentage of women working in the force went from 27% to 37% Over 350,000 women served in the U.S Armed Forces Industrial labor force had some trouble after the men were enlisted into the military. In 1945, 25 percent of the married women worked outside their home. Women were asked to joined WAVE which were The Women Accepeted for Voluntary service They also joined the army corp for WAC. Japanese Americans (1942-1945) Attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 North America on all of the subtopics I am thinking that the women would do a good job into supporting the war effort because they are able to take over some of the jobs while the husbands are at the military. Were there any other rationings other than gas and food? Were all the men being enlisted into the army? The U.S government seemed to be very willing into defeating their enemies in this war. The Manhattan Project reminded of the project that my chemistry class did last year where they were talking about the history behind the nuclear bombs. Where do the 75 percent of the women work at? If the men were gone to enlist in the army, the women can take over their work place while they are gone overseas at war. When did the women join the WAVE? World War II reminded me of the book, Number the Stars since the setting is taking place during World War II. I hate the word rasicsm since this word was being used all of the led to suspicions about loyalty of Japanese Americans and was motivated largely by racism. In February of 1942 FDR signed order authorizing War Department to remove any individual or group from areas of the country that was in danger of attack 120,000 Japanese Americans were taken away from their homes & forced into internment camps in American West, which made them give up everything that they had in Japan. Rationing (1942-1945) The usage of gas was very limited at that time. The Rationing of food began in May 1942 The rationing of food included sugar, followed by coffee and red meat Lend-Lease Act (1941-1945) Allows the purchase of war materials that were in America. Unfortunately, they were unable to afford the materials and decided to change some of the rules that were involved in the Act. It was able to cover the neutrality that the U.S had at the time. War Propaganda (1939-1945) Used by every by country that was involved during World War II. U.s used photos and films to get their message across towards the Allies. Encouraged people to support the war effort. G.I Bill (1944) Provides returning veterans with financial assistance for education, government guarantees on low-cost loans and overall improvements in care Trying to prevent the same effect that happened during World War I The length on the plan that was given by time because of the race discrimnation that they have againist each other. Which was the first country to use War Propaganda during World War II? the plan had to depend based on the military service that was given. Manhattan Project (1942-1946) The US Gov. authorized secret program of nuclear testing & development called Manhattan Project in 1942. The goal for the Manhattan Project. develop the world’s first atomic bomb Gov provided limited funding in early 1940, but in late 1941 Office of Scientific Research & Development took control of project More than 30 labs & sites involved in nuclear research & development with over 130,000 people. The project was a success and they were able to create, the Little Boy bomb was supposed to drop in Hiroshana. The Draft (1940) Gave president the opportunity to sell lease, lend or otherwise dispose of any defense article to and nation whose defense he considered critical Negotiated loans from countries for paying back FDR signed the bill , which establiss the first peacetime draft in American history The U-boat Peril (1942) Germany navy launched series of U-boat raids on America’s Eastern Seaboard in 1942. The first day of World War II began with Battle of the Atlantic in September 1939 Lost fewer than 24 U-boats & sunk nearly 400 Allied ships & killed nearly 2,000 crew members & Merchant Marines Europe and Africa: Nazi Expansion By the time of 1936, Hitler was trying to expand Germany Poland’s ghettos liquidated by 1943 400,000 people forced into Warsaw Ghetto, food rations scarce and the harsh conditions. Nazi troops captured Netherlands by May 14, 2940 Captured Paris in June 1940 D- Day Europe on all of the subtopics Stretched along 50 miles of the French coastline Andrew Higgins, a private shipbuilder from New Orleans created a boat that could greatly impact the Navy and the Marines His ship was dubbed the Eureka Leningrad Siege German forces bombed military and civilian targets Women served in front-line defense for Soviet Union and also filled positions in factories Maginot Line Located 9 miles apart from each other Each housed 1,000 soldiers Between forts lays series of smaller, less heavily defended forts big enough for 200500 soldiers Many thought the defensive mentality of Maginot was outdated Jews Seek Refuge Jews in Germany were less than 1% (523,000) in Germany during 1933 Nazi party got rid of 300,000 Jews Jewish refugees included 9,000+ children per refuge Nazi Party gained power in 1933 Battle of Britain By summer of 1940 Germany had British Hitler should never have had his point of view against the Jews as the scapegoats of Germany. The Jews were the reason why I hated Hitler because he always think they are the ones to blame when it is actually Hitler who has to blame himself. What was the reason that it was being called D-D day? The Name of D-D day kind of reminded me of Dee Dee from Dexter’s Laboratory. The G.I Bill must have been a successful bill other than the New Deal during the Great Depression which Franklin Delano Roosevelt was involved with. Why the atomic bomb was called Little Boy? When was the maginot line built? Royal Air Force “on ropes” in Battle of Britain Hitler launched an aerial assault hoping that he would conduct a blow to British morale & force country to surrender Prime Minister Winston Churchill was a symbol that signifies the inspiration and spirit of the British people during world War II The Panzer Tanks production started in 1926 were not to deployed in large numbers to turn the tide of battle for Axis in North Africa Made an impact towards the battlefield of Panzer on that day. Yalta Conference All of the leaders who were under the Allied power met in Yalta Talked about the future occupation of defeated Germany, fate of Poland, and other countries liberated from Nazi rule Churchill wanted a three-state solution for Germany. FDR wanted Germany to be divided into multiple new nations Asia: Two Jima Was a battle against the U.S and Japan Took place in a small island Japan on February 19, 1945 30,000 Marine began their assault on Two Jima. a small island in southern Japan Battle of Iwo Jima produced one of the highest casualty rates of World War II Two Jima was a strategic importance to US and Japanese forces Japan had 3 airstrips on the island USS Enterprise Asia on all of the subtopics Japan was able to gain military aggression due to their determination to rule the world and having a hatred towards other people. Was the most decorated US naval ship of WWII Carried 19,800 pound aircraft Participated in more battles than any other American ship Commissioned in 1938 Served in more than a dozen major battles received 20 battle stars for its exploits Zero to Kamikaze US learned knowledge of the Zero to construct better planes & Japanese changed tactics Formed a squad of kamikaze pilots who flew planes The planes were loaded with explosives directly into enemy vessels Flying Tigers Took place in Late 1941 US responded to appeals from China’s Nationalist government to aid in its battle against Japan Resulted in formation of American Volunteer Group Small, elite group of pilots led by the US Army captain Claire Chennault, were later known as Flying Tigers Nanking Massacre The Nanking Massacre occurred between China and Japan Took place of a period of 6 weeks Also known as Rape of Nanking between 20,000 and 80,000 women were sexually assaulted Many families were killed Bodies laid on the streets of Nanking for months after the attack Leyte Gulf This was a battle between United States and Japan to see who can have control There was some miscommunication and decision that were made by Japan which finally made them succeed into taking the Philippines. Who were the people on the battle on Two Jima? What was the USS Enterprise decorated with? I wonder why Japan wanted to capture Thailand and Hong Kong. The planes that were loaded with explosives kind of reminds of the plane that contain the atomic bombs that are being used in the modern world history. The atomic bomb was the use of the creation of the weapons . Why did it take so long for Japan? How long did the embargo take place? Japan’s expansion U.S government issued protest after Japan entered French Indochina US placed embargo on the trade with Japan The U.S went embargo of vital materials like steel, oil, and iron In return, Japan attacked naval base at Pearl Harbor Also launched simultaneous attacks on Guam, Wake Island, and the Philippines, Were able to captured Thailand and Hong Kong Death at Bataan Took place in April 1942 Japanese forces defeated US and Filipino army in the Battle of Bataan on that day Forced more than 70,000 captured soldiers to march more than 60 miles in brutally hot weather. Marchers were starved, deprived of sleep, and beaten any who fell or complained will be executed Atomic Bomb Took place in August of 1945. U.S forces dropped the bombs in Hiroshima, and Nagasaki which killed more than 100,000 people The bombs also exposed more than 10,000 people for the deadly radiation. Hiroshima later became a center of pacifism.
