Personal history
Write a one page history of yourself. Where were you born? When? What important
events have happened in your life? How have you become the person you are today?
This does not have to be typed and should not take much time. Remember to also get the binder
if you forgot!
My generation song or poem
Write a short song or poem that summarizes who you are as a generation of young adults.
Think about how your generation is different from your parents – what things make each
generation different? Your song or poem should have a total of at least 20 lines.
Re-write Enduring understandings #3 and #4
Write enduring understandings #3 and #4 in your own words in a sentence or two. Then
provide 5 examples from history or present day that you think would support or prove
this idea to be accurate
Chart
Compare and contrast the start of our course with the world today. Pick at least three key
factors and show how you think it was like in 1900 as opposed to your own life. (sample)

Unit 1 Project
The Gilded Age and Progressive Movement
For the project in this unit, we will write short research papers (2-3 pages)
regarding The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. Your job as the historian is to prove whether or
not The Jungle is an accurate representation of life at the turn of the century in the United
States. In addition to discussing the role of fictional books in a history course, our goal is
to learn important research and writing skills that will impact the rest of this course.
