Breast Health
In the year 2000 alone, over 183,000 new cases of breast cancer were diagnosed,
and over 40,000 women died from this disease. Breast Health is a proprietary

Good News About Breast Cancer and Prevention
Despite the fact that breast cancer is the most common cancer found in American
women, there is good news. Recent studies have concluded that only 5 to 10% of

The Case For Supplements
According to the Physicians Committee of Responsible Medicine, it is estimated
that about 35% to 50% of all cancers are linked to nutrition. The American
Council on Science and Health advises however that the answer is not that simple.
Dr. Ruth Kava, PhD, reported that although epidemiological studies support the
concept that consumption of ample amounts of fruits and vegetables can help
protect against various types of cancer, a study in the February 14th issue of the
Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) suggested that increasing
our intake of fruits and vegetables is not giving us the protection we hoped. This
does not mean we should not bother to improve our diets. It means improving our
diets may not be enough.

Arabinogalactins
Arabinogalactins, a phyto (plant based) nutrient found in many plants, enhance NK (natural
killer) cell activity, reduce metastasis, (the spreading of cancer) and protect against radiation
induced damage.
Arabinogalactins are a class of polysaccharides found in many plants and are an active ingredient
in echinacea, astragalus, and shitake mushroom, (all well known plants for their immune boosting
powers) Arabinogalactans have a variety of beneficial effects in the body. They have shown to
enhance NK (natural killer) cell activity, reduce metastasis, (the spreading of cancer) and protect
against radiation induced damage. They also block lectin and stop tumor cell attachment, and they
increase the production of various cytokines, which are chemicals the immune system uses for
cell to cell communication. The end result is increased activity of immune cells against tumors,
viruses and bacteria. In animal studies, arabinogalactans have reduced the spread of tumors by
coating the binding sites that cancer cells would otherwise attach to. This inhibition of metastasis
resulted in increased survival time. Supplemental arabinogalactan powder is derived from an
evergreen tree called the Western Larch. Toxicity studies show that there are no adverse effects.
To benefit from this polysaccharide from natural sources they would have to be eaten raw as
temperatures over 140 degrees F. damages the polysaccharides. For example, wheat bread and
pasteurized milk would not contain bio-available Arabinogalactins, but raw cow’s milk, fresh
wheat grass, fresh raw coconut and raw carrots would contain the polysaccharide.
Bromelain/Plant Enzymes

production of enzymes slows down as we age. Enzymes are typically thought of in terms of

Calcium D-Glucarate
Calcium D-Glucarate, a natural substance found in many fruits and vegetables, has shown to
block tumor development, decrease the proliferation of existing tumors, and decrease levels of
estradiol (the form of estrogen that causes breast cancer) by helping the body to detoxify and
eliminate cancer causing agents.
Calcium D-glucarate is the calcium salt of D-glucaric acid, a natural substance found in many
fruits and vegetables. In 1986 researchers demonstrated that taking D-Glucarate orally, protected
animals and humans from developing cancer. Rats given the chemical anthracene develop breast
cancer, but if they were pre-treated with dietary Glucarate, tumor development was blocked in
over 70% of the animals. It was shown that when D-Glucarate was fed to the animals, the levels
of estradiol (the form of estrogen that causes breast cancer) were decreased in the blood. DGlucarate helps the body eliminate harmful carcinogens (cancer causing chemicals). In 1990
Walaszek, the scientist who headed this research, moved to the MD Anderson Carcinogenesis
center at Houston, and published an article showing that Calcium D-Glucarate leads to a decrease
in the "proliferation" of tumors themselves Then from 1991-1993 there were a number of articles
that tested D-Glucarate in human tumor cell cultures The outcome of this work was the isolation
of D-Glucarate from fruits and vegetables made available as a supplement to the public. This
extraction process and use of D-Glucarate is patented. D-Glucarate is a naturally occurring
substance that is not present in sufficient amounts to counteract natural and external carcinogens.
By supplementing D-Glucarate as the calcium salt, we can get a long lasting effect of Glucarate,
and this effect is to favor the body’s natural defense mechanism for eliminating carcinogens. The
A.P. John Institute for Cancer Research recommends that every woman over the age of 35 take

lignans. Lignans balance and buffer the potential harmful effects of too much or the wrong type

Green Tea Extract
Polyphenols are believed to be responsible for Green Tea’s ability to inhibit cell-replication

Green Tea contains a wide range of vitamins & minerals and many beneficial phyto (plant-based)
chemicals including polyphenols. Polyphenols are believed to be responsible for Green Tea’s

cellular degenerative processes. In various studies, rats with breast tumors were given green tea to
drink and compared to similar rats that only drank water. The green-tea-rats had reductions in
tumor size, and new tumors were slower to develop. Although other dietary differences may be at
play, the incidence of breast cancer in regions where Green Tea is consumed in large quantities,
(notably China and Japan), is much lower than in western societies. It has been speculated that
you would need to drink around 3-4 cups every day (without milk or sugar) to get such benefits.
For the average person that's a lot of tea to drink, and for this reasons supplemental Green Tea
extracts have become a widely popular and convenient means to acquire it’s powerful benefits.
Indole 3 Carbinol (13C)
Indole is a compound found in cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts and cabbage that can
activate the enzyme necessary to convert estrogen to a less dangerous form and may detoxify
harmful (fake) estrogens in the same way. It halts the growth of human breast cancer cells (in the
test tube), and prevents development of cancer (in rats) treated with known cancer causing
chemicals.
In the 1970s, researchers at the University of Illinois reported that cauliflower and its cousin’s
broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage and mustard all contain a compound that can activate the
enzyme necessary to convert estrogen to a less dangerous form. That compound is indole-3carbinol, better known as I3C. Hormone-disrupting chemicals are prime suspects in the
astronomical increase in breast, prostate and other cancers. Chemicals that mimic estrogen and/or
disrupt other hormones include those used in plastic milk jugs and can linings plastic wrap and
pesticides present on imported fruits and vegetables and those commonly used on lawns and
gardens. This is the short list. The environment is so saturated with these hormone-disrupters,
being exposed to them is all but inevitable. I3C can change the way our bodies own estrogen
behaves and may detoxify fake estrogens in the same way. When human breast cancer cells are
treated with I3C in the test tube, 90% of them will stop growing. When I3C is given to rodents
before they are treated with cancer-causing chemicals, up to 90% of the cases of mammary cancer
that would ordinarily develop don't develop. If I3C is given at the same time as cancer-causing
chemicals, the number of tumors can be slashed by 96%. I3C also slashes the rate of naturallyoccurring breast cancer in rodents by half. Dozens of studies on I3C in humans and human cells
indicate that it has multiple beneficial effects against hormone-related cancers. Perhaps the
greatest testament to the powers of I3C is that drug companies are scrambling to make versions
they can patent and sell as drugs.

MAITAKE D-Fraction extract from Maitaki Products Inc is a registered trademark for the
standardized extract from maitake mushroom which contains the active ingredient; protein bglucan complex. This special patented extract appears to have a potent immunostimulatory
activity, which may account primarily for its anti-tumor effect on cancer cells. It is one of the few
natural products to be approved by the FDA such studies.
Traditional healers in china, Japan and other parts of Asia have prized and recognized the health
enhancing potential of medicinal mushroom and even considered them “food of immortality”. In
the late 1980's, it was found that the MAITAKE mushroom was the most potent mushroom so far

research studies are showing that rosemary contains more than two dozen antioxidants that may
prevent many cancers, as well as heart and brain disorders. In a study conducted at the University
of Illinois Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, rats that were fed Rosemary extract
and a component of Rosemary called carnosol, were exposed to a carcinogen known to cause
breast cancer. The results indicated that there was an increase of activity of two liver enzymes
which detoxified the chemical carcinogens, and a decrease in damage to mammary (breast) tissue
DNA. In another study done at Pennsylvania State's College of Health and Human Development,
University Park, Pa., Rosemary was found to block the conversion of normal cells into cancer

cells in rat mammary tissue The binding of carcinogens to cells is one of the first steps in tumor
formation, and the rosemary diet was found to reduce by 76 percent the number of instances that
