Topic
Topic
exams
1. I can demonstrate the requirements for an electrical circuit that works.
2. I know the symbols used in simple circuits (cell, battery, power pack,
lamp, wire, switch, ammeter, voltmeter).
3. I can draw a circuit diagram from an actual circuit, a picture or a
description
4. I can use the terms series and parallel correctly.
5. I can describe a circuit from a physical circuit or a circuit diagram using
correct terminology.
6. I can construct a circuit from a description or a diagram.
7. I can use a multimeter effectively to measure voltage and current in a
simple circuit.
8. I can relate power (brightness etc.) to voltage and current in a working
circuit.
9. I can list examples of electrical conductors and insulators.
10. I can describe a resistor
11. I can recognise the main features of a domestic electrical system in
terms of 1-9
12. I know the main features of the NZ electrical supply system in terms of
its sustainability.
My Learning Outcomes- FORCES
1. I can describe a force as a push or a pull and that the unit of force is the
newton which has the symbol N.
2. I know that forces can change the speed, direction and/or shape of an
object.
3. I can explain the difference between a contact and a non-contact force
and give examples of each.
4. I can measure weight force using a forcemeter.
5. I can label diagrams of objects with suitably sized arrows to show the
direction of forces acting on it.
6. I can describe the motion of an object when the forces on it are balanced
or unbalanced.
7. I can explain the difference between mass and weight.
8. I know that friction acts between 2 surfaces that tend to rub against each
other whether moving or stationary to slow objects down or stop them
moving.
My Learning Outcomes- MOTION
1. I can state the SI units for distance, speed and time, including using
multiples and submultiples ( ie mm,cm,km…..)
2. I can measure distance
3. I can measure time elapsed
4. I can calculate speed of objects using v = d / t
5. I can explain the terms kinetic energy and gravitational potential energy.
6. I can explain conservation of energy and energy conversions.
7. I can graph distance versus time for constant speeds.
8. I can describe motion from distance/ time graphs
