Whereas:
Student Senate is elected by the Student Body to represent and voice the opinions
of students; and
Whereas:
Student Senate is a means by which student concerns are addressed; and
Whereas:
International Justice Mission (IJM) is a human rights agency that secures justice
for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression,
and;
Whereas:
IJM lawyers, investigators and aftercare professionals work with local
governments to ensure victim rescue, to prosecute perpetrators and to strengthen
the community and civic factors that promote functioning public justice systems,
and;
Whereas:
IJM's justice professionals work in their communities in 12 countries in Asia,
Africa and Latin America to secure tangible and sustainable protection of national
laws through local court systems.
Whereas:
Baylor’s IJM Chapter, founded in April 2008, is a group of students concerned
about the issues stated above and desire to work together as advocates for the
oppressed, and;
Whereas:
IJM – Baylor Chapter will host “Justice Week” in order to spread awareness,
engage in prayer, and raise funds to support IJM in their efforts to rescue victims
of injustice, and;
Whereas:
The goal is to inspire the Baylor campus and Waco community to take action in
becoming advocates for those suffering around the world, and;
Whereas:
The Bible states, “seek justice, [and] protect the oppressed” –Isaiah 1:17, and;
Whereas:
As a part of Justice Week, IJM will host a benefit concert during which BRAN
Artists will play music at Common Grounds, and:
Whereas:
All ticket sales will go straight to IJM – International.

Therefore:
$1,060.00
Be it resolved by the 56th Legislative Session of the Baylor University Student
Senate assembled that$1,060.00 be allocated from the Student Government
Allocation Fund (SGAF) / Limited Allocation Fund (LAF) to IJM – Baylor
Chapter for the purpose of funding the IJM – Justice Week Concert.
Furthermore: IJM – Baylor Chapter has agreed to meet all advertising regulations set forth by
the Limited Allocation Fund Committee in their by-laws.
Furthermore: IJM – will meet with the Attorney General, Mr. Collins, within 7 business days of
the event’s conclusion.
