Timeline of World History Prehistory-1500 As a class, you will be creating a timeline of history! Directions: 1. Select an area of study from the list. Only one person can have a particular topic. Do a little textbook hunting for basic info on your topic. 2. Think about what is significant about your topic. Go beyond the basics. For example, if your topic is Egypt, do not simply think pyramids. Learn additional info you did not know previously. 3. You will then create a 4x6 panel. There are examples in the room. Completely fill your panel with the name of your topic, the dates associated (rise and fall, for example), and significant visuals. You may draw, copy, or incorporate images from the computer. Include your name, date, and period on the back of the panel in the upper right hand corner. Do not include info on the back of your card. 4. Cut and paste the rubric below to the back of your panel. 5. DUE DATE: _________________________ Purpose: This assignment will not only get your familiar with using your textbook, but will also expose you to the various topics we will learn throughout the year (note: there will be a few topics we will not have time to study; however, I still think these civilizations are important). You will also learn how to place events/people etc. in chronological order from BC – AD (BCE – CE). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Timeline Card Project Rubric: *Includes name of topic *Includes major dates associated with topic *Goes “beyond the basics” *Includes appropriate and sufficient visuals *Glued rubric to back of panel; name, date, period in upper right hand corner on back of panel *Total: /15 /15 /40 /20 /10 _______ /100 Possible Topics: Aztecs Buddhism Early Middle Ages Kingdom of Askum Roman Empire Han Dynasty (China) Late Middle Ages Charlemagne Renaissance Incas Roman Republic Maura Empire (India) Gupta Empire (India) Alexander the Great Hinduism Indus River Valley Egypt Mesopotamia Olmec Phoenicians Greece Persians Confucianism Maya Islam Byzantine Empire Mali Empire (Africa) Songhai Empire (Africa) Ghana Empire (Africa) Feudalism in Europe Feudalism in Japan Japan Genghis Khan Kush Empire Indo-Europeans Assyrian Empire Persian Empire Zhou Dynasty (China) Shang Dynasty (China) Early Judaism Early Christianity Olmecs Great Zimbabwe Early Russia Ottoman Empire Tang Dynasty (China) Song Dynasty (China) Mongol Empire Korean Kingdoms Southeast Asian Kingdoms Crusades 100 Years War
