Four Components of the Connecticut Physical Fitness Test
1. Curl-ups (sit ups)- test that measures skeletal muscle strength and
endurance.
2. Push-ups- tests your upper body strength
3. Sit and Reach- tests your flexibility
4. Mile run- tests your cardiorespiratory system, is an example of aerobic
activity.
Benefits of a Warm Up
1. Warming up will get your muscles ready for physical activity.
2. A warm up is done before an activity to release synovial fluid into the joint
areas to prevent friction. Synovial fluid acts as a lubricant for the joints.
Types of warm up activities include jumping jacks, jogging in place and arm
circles.
Aerobic exercise is any type of exercise that is long in duration and low in
intensity. Cross-country running and walking are aerobic exercises.
Anaerobic exercise is any activity that is short in duration and high intensity.
Sprinting is an example of anaerobic exercise.
Most sports include both aerobic and anaerobic exercise and improve your
cardiorespiratory system.
