PRETEST SCORE: +______
PRETEST SCORE: +______
On the lists above, circle the words that you get wrong on each pretest.
I chose to study List _____ this week.
**Only study ONE list. If you get 7 or more correct on the pretest, choose a harder list!**
***If you score 7 or higher on all three lists, see the teacher the NEXT day during DEAR to create a List D for
yourself. You should do this no later than Wednesday or else you will not get credit for this unit.***

_____/5 points AT HOME PRETEST: Took pretests on Spelling City, circled words I missed,
and wrote scores under each list. (It is okay if you only took one pretest if you found the list that
was right for you the first time.)
_____/10 points AT HOME PRACTICE: Did Moodle Definition Matching Activity for your
list only, printed my score, and stapled it to the back of this page.

and wrote scores under each list. (It is okay if you only took one pretest if you found the list that

_____/10 points AT HOME PRACTICE: Wrote definitions for each of my words, either typed
or handwritten and cited my source.
_____/25 points AT HOME PRACTICE: Learned how to spell my words. Tell how you
practiced (below) the words and get your parent’s initials:______________
Some ideas on how to practice:
___ Enter your words into Spelling City to create an individualized list for practice.
___ Alphabetize the words.
___ Divide each word into syllables. example: bi/cy/cle
___ Write the words in cursive and circle the vowels.
___ Write the words in cursive and circle the consonants.
___ Write the words in cursive. Cross out all the silent letters.
___ Write one sentence using each word. You must use correct punctuation. Make sure your sentences show the
proper meaning of each word. Underline each word! Your sentences should represent your BEST WORK!
___ Write each word five times in your neatest handwriting to help you master the spelling of each word. (in
cursive or printing)
___ Classify the words according to their parts of speech. (ex. Nouns, verbs, adjectives,…)
___ Cut all of your spelling words out of newspapers and magazines and create a collage
___ Make a word search with all of the spelling words on your list. YOU MAY NOT USE PUZZLEMAKER.COM OR
ANY OTHER COMPUTER PROGRAM. Have someone at home solve it!
___ Create a crossword puzzle AND an answer key using all of the words on your list. You must have a clue for
each word. YOU MAY NOT USE PUZZLEMAKER.COM OR ANY OTHER COMPUTER PROGRAM TO CREATE
YOUR PUZZLE!!!
___ Create a tongue twister for each of the words on your list.
