Spelling Activities List
Alphabetize your spelling list.
Write a story using a minimum of 15 spelling words.
Word Search: make a word search using all of your words.
Cross Word Puzzle: make a crossword puzzle that uses
at least 12 of your words.
5. Riddles: make up ten riddles to share with your friends. Try to
make the spelling word be the answer.
6. Poem: make a poem using at least 12 of your words.
7. Create a design: use your words to create a design − any way
that you like.
8. The Big Bore: write your spelling words ten times each.
9. Write each word in a complete sentence.
10. Expando: use as many spelling words as you can in one
sentence. Make five “Expando” sentences.
11. News Words: Spell your spelling words using letters cut
out of a magazine or newspaper.
12. Double Trouble: Use as many spelling words in two
different sentences to show their multiple meaning.
13. Write a letter: Use at least 15 words to write a letter
to a friend or famous person.
14. Rainbow Words: Write each spelling word with colored
pens, crayons, paints or colored pencils.
15.Write an ad for your favorite food, soft drink, restaurant, toy,
or car using at least 10 of your spelling words.
16.Create a cartoon strip using at least ten
spelling words.
17.Write five alliterated sentences with your spelling words.
Example: Many men met Monday to munch minced meat.
18.Write a “Lost and Found” ad for five spelling words. In the ad
describe the missing word so that someone else will recognize
it immediately.
19.Write the definitions of your spelling words.
20.Configuration Clues: Print each word carefully and then
draw a box around each letter.
