Go over the articles and notes
o Who was the first pharaoh?
o What was the double crown, and what did it represent?
o Why was mummification so important to ancient Egyptians? (What would it mean to
their afterlife if their body decayed?)
o Why did ancient Egyptians wear eye makeup?
o What was the staple [main] food of ancient Egyptians?
o Why did farmers build the pyramids? (Why were they not farming?)
o What other famous Egyptian monument is near the Great Pyramid? What does it look
like?
o What were 2 daily uses of the Nile River? What were 2 uses of the river for farmers?
o How long (approximately) is the Nile River? In what direction does it flow?
o What makes the Nile so difficult to sail down? (These also kept invaders out.)
o Around what was Lower Egypt located? (where the Nile emptied into the Mediterranean

Essay Questions:
 Describe the Weighing of the Heart Ceremony and its importance. Label the pictures AND
write it out in a paragraph. Be sure to include why it was important. What happened if they
passed the test? What happened if they failed?

