Weekly Spelling Contract Read the choices below to decide what activities you would like to complete. You may choose any combination of activities as long as they add up to 150 points or more. Spelling contracts are due FRIDAY morning and no later! You will need to turn in all of the activities at the same time, and have all of your pieces of paper together. For each activity you do, write the # of that activity and circle it, and write the amount of points it is worth. Have fun! 25 Point Activities 1. Rainbow spelling: Write your words 3 times each tracing over your words with 3 different colors. 2. Illustrate at least ½ of your words, write your spelling word under your picture. The illustrations must be neatly done, in color! 3. Write your words as many times as there are syllables. 4. Write your words in ABC order 3 times each. 5. *Take a practice test with a parent and have them grade it. 6. Write your words in order from longest word to shortest word and then shortest word to longest. 7. Use the numbers on a phone pad to write each of your spelling words as a phone number. You must write both the word and the number. (ex: abc = 2, def = 3, etc.) 50 Point Activities 8. Write each word six times. (This is in addition to 5x’s each) 9. Type each word 6 times each on a computer. (Use capital letters only on words that need it.) 10. Make a word search using all of the words. 11. Write sentences using your spelling words, underline the words, and include no more than 2 spelling words per sentence. 12. Make a crossword puzzle using all of your words – include your answers. 13. Cut letters and/or from a magazine or newspaper, and glue them on paper to spell your words. 14. Look up each word in a dictionary and write the guide words for each. 15. Write sentences with ½ your words using the letters in each word (example: recess = red eagles can’t eat slimy seeds)…as real or goofy as you want 16. Locate your spelling words in textbooks or reading books. Write the word, book name, and page number from the book. (example: recess, Bridge to Terabithia, pg. 30). 75 Point Activities 17. Write a story using all of your words. (All sentences must be complete). 18. Make a picture dictionary using your words: Make a book out of paper. Each page can show all the words that go with that letter, an illustration, and a definition. You may also choose to use a different page for each word. Make sure they are in ABC order! 19. Write a poem using ½ of your words in your best handwriting. Give it a title and illustrate it. 20. Create a product on a poster you would like to sell and use ½ your spelling words to advertise it. Your poster must include the product, name, illustration, and cost. Be creative and be ready to share. 21. Make a mobile that displays all of your spelling words. Be creative. Each piece of your mobile should have your word and an illustration. 22. Create a comic strip and write captions using your words. Underline your words.
