Introduction - Food! Do you know what you ate yesterday, why you ate it, and what it did
for you? The Food Guide Pyramid can help you in the quest to understand and improve your
eating habits. Whether you eat at home, in a restaurant, or at school knowing about the
food you eat can help you make wise food decisions. Go to: http://www.mypyramid.gov/
1. Steps to a healthier you: Under the food pyramid graphic at the top of the page click on the link to the
“Dietary Guidelines for Americans.” According to the dietary guidelines, what is a “healthy diet”?
2. Click on Interactive Tools (in the left margin). Then
click on the Daily Food Plan. Fill in your personal
information to get your own personalized pyramid plan.
Fill in the table on the right using the information
provided on your personalized daily food plan.

food group to answer the questions below. You will need
to click on the different bullets in the right hand menu
for each group to find the answers.

d. Look at the list of grains. Do you currently eat more whole or refined grains?

Fruit:
