Define a variable, and then set up an equation that can be used to solve the problem. Solve the
equation and answer the question asked.
A. The perimeter of a triangle is 12 and the lengths of the three sides are three consecutive
integers. Find the lengths of the sides.
B. An isosceles triangle is one in which two of its interior angles have equal measure. Find
the measures of the angles of an isosceles triangle whose largest angle measures 5º
more than 5 times the measures of each of the smaller two.
Hint: The sum of the interior angles of a triangle is 180º
C. Micah has 21 feet of lumber to build a bookcase with 3 shelves, including the top. The
bookcase is to be twice as tall as it is wide. What are its dimensions?
