Country strategy 2020
 “Strategy 2020” is the main policy document in Georgia.
This document contains mainly economic targets
 The Strategy states, in particular: “New economic
policies under the present Strategy will achieve
increased welfare through reducing unemployment,
improving labor and living conditions, forming basic
social protection system and developing human capital.
At the same time, the Government fully intends to
fulfill its responsibility to provide targeted social
assistance to the poorest layers of society.”

Country strategy 2020
The same strategy vision states that:
 “Economic policy of the Government of Georgia is based on three main
principles:
 The first principle implies ensuring fast and efficient economic growth
driven by development of real (production) sector of the economy, which
will resolve economic problems that exist in the country, create jobs and
reduce poverty.
 The second principle implies implementation of economic policies that
facilitate inclusive economic growth – it envisages universal involvement
of the population in the economic development process (including
Diaspora, migrants, ethnic minorities and other groups), prosperity for
each member of society through economic growth, their social equality
and improvement of the living standards of population.
 The third main principle is based on rational use of natural resources,
ensuring environmental safety and sustainability and avoiding natural
disasters during the process of economic development”.

SDG targets for national/global monitoring
Indicators produced according to the internationally adopted
.
methods
and methodologies, in our opinion, are better suited
for national and international monitoring.
For example:
 GDP per capita
 Vital statistics
 Unemployment
 Healthcare and social protection statistics
 Gender statistics
