• SDG 1 End poverty in all its forms everywhere- target 1.3.
being explicit about implementation of nationally appropriate
social protection systems and measures for all, including
floors, leading to substantial coverage of the poor and the
vulnerable.
• SDG 3 Good health and well-being target, 3.8 universal
health coverage
• SDG 5 on Gender equality target 5.4 calls for recognition and
value of unpaid care and domestic work through the provision
of public services, infrastructure and social protection policies
Social protection/inclusion and SDGs
• SDG 8 Decent work: full and productive employment for all
(8.5) with protection of labour rights and safe working
environment for all;
• SDG 10 on Inequality Reduction through: progressive
achievement and sustained income growth of the poorest
(10.1), empowerment and promotion of social, economic
and political inclusion of all (10.2), adoption of fiscal wage
and social protection policies to progressively achieve
greater equality (10.4)
• SDG 16 on Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions: effective,
accountable and transparent institutions at all levels (16.6);
responsive, inclusive, participatory and representative
decision making at all levels
Social inclusion interventions
• Contributing to transformative role of social protection:
– Design and promotion of innovative social services and
advocacy for inclusive and integrated services: twin track
approach where needed
– Developing social planning (aligning needs and services):
links with area based approaches
– Introduction of case management and professional social
work practice
– Achieving mix of providers
– Anti-discrimination
and rights based approahces
