2015-2016 Season cupresents.org 303-492-8008 Sept. 27 Twyla Tharp Dance 50th Anniversary Tour The Otherland Oct. 9 SFJAZZ Collective Tribute to Michael Jackson Choreography by Bailey Anderson and Rosely Conz Nov. 6 Irish Chamber Orchestra Gábor Takács-Nagy, conductor This work comes from two MFA Thesis projects by Bailey Anderson and Rosely Conz. It is an experiment in collaboration and content blending. Two different areas of research around distinct themes - foreignness and disability - come together on stage to create a unique place, “The Otherland.” The result is a montage of powerful scenes, both nonsensical and direct, that coexist and collide within a shared live experience. In this space, we (dancers, choreographers, audience) can experience the mix of feelings, the disorientation and discrimination, related to being an Other. Dec. 11 Soweto Gospel Choir Jan. 21 Diavolo Feb. 14 BODYTRAFFIC After the show, we invite you to stay and chat with us about the work. We would like to answer questions about our process of creation and hear your own experience as a viewer of this show.
