Application: Indianapolis World Police & Fire Games Scholarship Deadline: March 30 This scholarship is for retired or full-time police officers and firefighters pursuing undergraduate or graduate work at IUPUI. In 2001, 10,000 police officers and firefighters assembled in Indianapolis for the World Police & Fire Games. This celebration of “Heroes in the Heartland” offered the people of Indiana a unique opportunity to appreciate the brave public servants who serve and protect. The world-class competition, the international camaraderie and the positive image for public safety is a legacy of the Games that will be long-lasting. In the spirit of this excellence, organizers of the Games have established the Indianapolis World Police & Fire Games Scholarship Fund. The fund is intended to assist retired or full-time police officers and firefighters in pursuit of an education, so that they, like the athletes of the Games, can leave their legacy on the profession of public safety.
