UPS- 901
Back-Up Power Supply
UPS-901
The UPS-901 is an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
designed for use with the TRX-401 Field Transceiver in WAVES®
(Wireless Audio Visual Emergency System) that provides highperformance backup power.
Features & Benefits
•
Dependable UPS power source allows continuous audio
output up to 1.25 hours
Description
•
Automatic transfer of load to and from power sources
•
Balance circuit maintains optimal float charge
•
Mounts securely to associated TRX via built-in mounting
tracks
•
LEDs show charge and operation status
•
Units are cascadable for extended operating time*
The UPS-901 provides back-up power in the event of a loss of
the normal utility power source. During normal operation, the
UPS-901 receives a trickle charge from the associated TRX401 unit. A balancing circuit is used to maintain an optimal float
charge on the battery.
In the event of a power failure, the UPS-901 will automatically
supply DC power to the transceiver. In addition, external devices
connected to the TRX 15V output will also receive power from
the UPS-901. Under these conditions, the transceiver and
external devices will operate normally until the battery in the
UPS-901 is exhausted.
The UPS-901 will automatically transfer the load back to the
utility power when the line voltage returns to normal.
* The UPS-901 units are stackable (up to one additional
UPS-901 unit). A replacement cable (P/N M50-04589)
must be ordered for stacking an additional UPS-901
unit.

Architects and Engineers Specifications
The WAVES® System shall employ a high-performance Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) designed for use with the designated
TRX-401 Field Transceiver, as shown in the plans. It is acceptable for use in any WAVES® Mass Notification System. The UPS-901
shall provide back-up in the event of a loss of the normal utility power source.
The UPS-901 shall mount to its associated TRX-401 unit by means of a mounting track and is held securely by a set screw. An
additional set of mounting tracks shall be provided to piggyback additional units or accept the TRX mounting plate.
During normal operation, the UPS-901 shall receive a trickle charge from the associated TRX-401 unit through a balancing circuit
to maintain an optimal float charge on the battery. A green LED shall indicate the presence of DC voltage in and a red LED shall
indicate normal charging.
In the event of a power failure of the normal utility power source, the UPS-901 shall automatically supply power to the transceiver. In
addition, external devices connected to the TRX 15V output shall also receive power from the UPS-901. Under these conditions, the
transceiver and external devices shall operate normally until the battery in the UPS-901 is exhausted. The UPS-901 shall maintain
full operation of its associated transceiver for a period of 1.25 hours under full load (utilizing internal amplifier outputs) and up to 5
hours in standby mode (all functions except internal amplifier output.) The UPS-901 shall automatically transfer the load back to the
utility power when the line voltage returns to normal.
