Application:
This unit is used for the automatically equalizing the effective of generating sets. A
proportional regulation of the nominal value for several generating sets in parallel can be
effected.
This balancer is often combined with the frequency control unit "FN 1" and the synchronizer
unit "SY 1" for a fully automatic synchronization with load balancing.
Output impulses for speed governor motors, motorized potentiometers, steam regulating
valves are given.
Functions:
The load balancing unit WLA 2 compares the effective power of two systems and gives
output impulses (more or less power) to the speed governor motor. High difference in
effective power means a continuous impulse and little difference means increasing the
interval time between the impulses, so that an optimums of regulation is given. The sensitivity
of this unit is adjustable.
Data for ordering :
Mains voltage, current transformer ratio and the rated power of the generating sets. The
standard unit is developed for 220 VAC (phase-neutral), two current paths each 5 amps,
(secondary side of the current transformers) and a power ratio 1:1 of the generating sets.
Other voltages, currents and/or power rations for additional prices.
Commissioning and adjustments
Check first the connection of the current transformers:
1. Alternator 1 with load, alternator 2 switched off. Relay of the measuring circuit N1 >
N2 must be energized.
2. Alternator 2 with load, alternator 1 switched off. Relay of the measuring circuit N1 <
N2 must be energized.
3. When one set is running with load, start the second set and switch in parallel. Check
there after the difference in effective load. The difference should decrease nearly to
zero. Increasing of the difference: change the output terminals 3 and 11 with 4 and 12.
The required sensitivity can be adjusted with the potentiometer. For example:
Sensitivity adjusted at 5 % means output impulses are given when the difference in
effective load becomes more than 5 % (referring to the nominal of the current
transformer).
