Canada is the second bigger country of the world, and has as capital the city of Ottawa. Great part of its surface is water and the country is full of forests. The first residents of the region were peoples that came of Siberia, which arrived through the Strait of Bering, and the Inuit peoples that came of Asia. The first Europeans that arrived in Canada were the Vikings, but they didn’t stay because the natives that resided in this region were very aggressive. However, the Englishmen and French didn’t get scared of the natives and they continued exploring the wealth of this region, forming colonies. In sixteen ninety France and England faced between them through a problem of limits, in which Englishmen won. In nineteen twenty six England recognized the Independence of Canada. Canada has 10 counties and three territories. It is a constitutional monarchy and a federal state with a democratic parliament. The official languages of Canada are English and French. Canada has a population of approximately 31 million inhabitants, of many different cultures. Canada limits to the North with the Glacier Arctic Ocean and to south with United States. To the northwest is Alaska. Canada is a very cold country. Great part of the Canadian territory is covered through forests, where it highlights the pine and the cedar. Also possesses big prairies. The fauna is very varied. It’s possible to find bears, wolves, coyotes, American lions and pumas among other carnivorous animals. In the arctic regions there are polar bears. In some areas can be seen beavers and numerous rodents. In the plane regions there are moles. Some areas of Canada are also the habitat of antelopes, reindeers and elks. Canada is an industrial country with high standards of life and great technology. It possesses big deposits of natural gas in the east coast, although their economy this based principally in the exploitation of natural resources. The Free Trade Agreement between Canada and the USA of nineteen eighty nine and the North American Free Trade Agreement that includes to USA, Mexico and Canada of nineteen ninety four has generated a great increment in the commerce and the economic integration of Canada with the USA. Canada is a Federal state under a system of parliamentary monarchy. Their sovereign is Isabel II with the title of Queen from Canada, the same that is Queen of England. The first Canadian Minister is Stephen Harper. The Canadian culture has been strongly influenced by the culture and British traditions, as well as through the French culture, although in smaller measure, and it’s a result of its colonial past. The American culture has also influenced a lot Canada due to its proximity. The Canadian literature can be divided in Literature in English and Literature in French. The literature in English at the beginning spoke of territories without exploring, although with the years it began to assimilate more to the European Literature. During the Twenty century the literature was strongly influenced by the social processes that affected to the world. The literature in French until half of the XX century spoke of the religion and the history of Canada. But of there from now on was centered more in the social problems, and it became more realist and introspective. The music is very important inside of the Canadian culture. It is part of the education from very early ages, so much in the public environment as in the private one. The organization of symphonic orchestras, camera groupings and Festivals of Jazz through many cities of the country gives good sample of the importance that has the music in this country. Canada has successful singers at international level as Avril Lavigne, Bryan Adams, Shania Twain, Nelly Furtado, Lara Fabian and Alanis Morissette among others. As for folkloric music, we notice three influences very strong: Celtic, French and indigenous music. Among the best groups of this music type is Great Big Sea. Among the folkloric dances the most important are “The Gang” and the “Beat in pairs”, as well as the ritual dances of the indigenous towns, also known as “Fist Nations”. In the inauguration of the PanAmerican games of Winnipeg in 1999, they put many of those dances. The sport is an aspect of the life important in Canada. The activities outdoors are part of the Canadians. The winter sports are practiced by great majority of the people. The Hockey on ice is the national sport and almost all the children practice it at some time. The Canadians enjoy all type of skating on ice. In the summers, they are practiced all type of aquatic activities as ski or diving. The biggest attractiveness of Canada is unquestionably their natural patrimony: more than two million lakes, hundred of parks and spectacular mountains. The most important and visited cities are Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, Montréal, Québec and Calgary. Old Street, Quebec The festivals of summer continue inclusive in September. One of the most spectacular is the festival of hot-air globes in Québec. In Toronto you will find of everything: Bars, Discos, Concerts, and Theater, parties of Hockey, Basketball and Baseball professionals. In Alberta this located the biggest business center of the world, the West Edmonton Mall.
