Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
1
Why Iris Analysis?


Iridology represents a holistic approach to health care
because it is an analysis of weaknesses in all of the tissues of
the body. The eye is seen merely as an instrument unlocking
the many clandestine symptoms of the body.
Just like a throat culture, thermometer, or a blood pressure
cuff reveal the body's overall condition and can give clues as
to what specific organs are hindered, so too does the iris of
the human eye.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
2
Why Iris Analysis?


By definition, iris analysis is: To discern by observation of the
irides the various stages of tissue inflammation-acute,
subacute, chronic, and degenerative-and where the
inflammations are located.
On the iris chart, the brain areas are represented at the top
while the feet are at the bottom, and the bowel area is on
the inside while the skin is on the outside.

Iridology ~ How it Began



In the early 1800’s, a young
boy named Ignatz von Peczely
of Egervar near Budapest,
Hungary, caught an owl in his
garden.
The 11-year-old boy
struggled with the bird.
In the struggle, the boy
accidentally broke
the owl’s leg.

4
Iridology ~ How it Began


The black stripe eventually
became a tiny black spot
surrounded by white lines and
shading.
When von Peczely grew up,
he became a physician and
never forgot the incident
with the owl.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
5
Iridology ~ How it Began

He was certain that the iris mirrored tissue changes
of the various organs and created the first chart
of the iris based on his findings.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
6
Iridology ~ How it Began


At a similar point in history,
Reverend Nils Liljequist, a Swedish clergyman,
discovered a relationship between various drug
settlements and specific discolorations in the iris of
the eye.
As a youth, Liljequist was given massive quantities
of quinine.

Iridology ~ Progress



Iridology has progressed tremendously since the
1800’s.
Numerous scientists and doctors have researched
iridology.
Iridology is based on scientific observation.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
8
Iridology ~ Progress


Dr. Bernard Jensen, D.C.
pioneered the science of
iridology in the United
States.
He developed one of the
most comprehensive
iris charts showing the
location of the organs
as they reflex in the
iris of the eye.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
9
What is Iridology?


Iridology is the science and practice that reveals
inflammation, where it is located and in what
stage it is manifesting.
The iris reveals body constitution, inherent
weaknesses, levels of health and the transitions
that take place in a person’s body according to
the way he or she lives.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
10
What is Iridology?


The iris represents a communication system
capable of handling an amazing quantity of
information.
The code reveals itself in the character of the
individual iris fibers. There are uncounted numbers
of these fibers present. The combinations of
various fiber characters make up an infinite
variety.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
11
What is Iridology?

The eyes have been proclaimed throughout the
ages as the window of the soul. We now
acknowledge them as the mirror of the body.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
12
What is Iridology?


Manifestations in and about the eyes have long
been used to gain insight into a person’s state of
health.
Today it is realized that the information revealed
in the eyes is greater than was formerly imagined.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
13
What is Iridology?

A closer inspection with the tools made available
by our expanding technology is revealing the iris
to be a micro computer readout of bodily function
and condition that truly merits every thinking man’s
honest and fair-minded consideration.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
14
What is Iridology?


Through the application of iridology, it is possible
to observe normal and abnormal reflex signs.
It does not compare all people together to create
a normal, but rather compares an individual’s
strengths to their weaknesses; a weak organ in a
strong body produces different characteristics, yet
it is still a weakness for that person.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
15
How it Works


The iris of the eye is the most complex tissue of the
body meeting the outside world.
It is an extension of the brain, being incredibly
endowed with hundreds of thousands of nerve
endings, microscopic blood vessels, muscle and
other tissues.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
16
How it Works


The iris is connected to every organ and tissue of
the body by way of the brain and nervous system.
The nerve fibers receive their impulses by way of
their connections to the optic nerve, optic thalami
and spinal cord.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
17
How it Works



They are formed embryologically from mesoderm
and neuroectoderm tissues.
Both sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous
systems are present in the iris.
In this way, nature has provided us with a
miniature television screen showing the most
remote portions of the body by way of nerve
reflex responses.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
18
How it Works


We are discovering that the eye works two ways;
not only does it enable us to bring images of the
outside world within, it also shows images of what
is within to the outside.
Nerve fibers in the iris respond to changes in body
tissues by manifesting a reflex physiology that
corresponds to specific tissue changes and
locations.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
19
How it works


The scientific explanation of exactly how this
process works neurologically is still forthcoming.
Much research is being devoted to a clearer
understanding of this phenomena.
The iris reveals an individual’s strengths and
weaknesses and what has been done to the body
through incorrect living habits. It also reveals the
wonder of one who has lived a good life
according to the laws of the universe.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
20
How it Works



Over the years, careful observations in clinical
environments have allowed us to unravel the
mysterious language of the iris.
Today we have a map of the iris topography
which guides us very accurately over its surface. In
this way, it is possible to "read" tissue conditions
that relate to the "whole" person being viewed.
We are seeing the “whole” body at once.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
21
What is the Chart?


The chart developed by Dr. Bernard Jensen is the
fruit of 50 years of research and intense study.
Spending many years as a student of past masters
of iridology, he has brought forward and
incorporated those aspects and details proven to
be accurate by verification in clinical practice.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
22
What is the Chart?


Each organ is identified and those of major
importance are outlined so that they are easily
located.
The chart represents the arrangement of the iris
into its corresponding locations as found in a
normally organized body.

the body.
Under-activity or sluggishness of
the bowel, including spastic or
ballooned conditions.
What organ is in greatest need
of repair.

Iridology CANNOT Reveal











Identify what medication or drugs an individual is using or has used.
Determine what operations a person has had.
Identify disease by name.
Tell what foods a person eats.
Determine the number or organs when a person has been born with
three kidneys, a double uterus, etc.
Determine whether a woman is pregnant.
Show whether gallstones or kidney stones are present.

26
Iridology ~ Simplified

Blue Iris ~ typically blue
eyed types have
lymphatic congestion
which involves excess
mucous. Health problems
usually start with colds
and sinus troubles, move
into ear, throat and lung
problems and wind up
with kidney and joint
disturbances.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
27
Iridology ~ Simplified

Brown Iris ~ typically prone
to imbalances in blood
composition and should pay
special attention to the
circulatory system, the heart,
blood, blood vessels as well
as the organs that make
blood, the liver, spleen and
bone marrow, and the
digestive and endocrine
systems.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
28
Iridology ~ Simplified

Mixed Iris ~ sometimes
referred to as the billiary
type, these individuals
should pay special
attention to digestive
system, stomach, pancreas,
gall bladder and
especially the liver, as well
as the intestinal tract.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
29
Iridology ~ Simplified

Strong Constitution ~

they radiate around the
pupil. A sign of inherited
strength from parents and
grandparents.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
30


Average Constitution ~
medium weave in
looseness of fibers. Most
will have average fiber
constitution.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
31
Iridology ~ Simplified

Poor Constitution ~ very
loose fibers, as if
comparing the weave of
silk to burlap, this is
burlap.
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
32
Iridology ~ Simplified

Lacunae ~ football
shaped changes in fiber
patterns suggest lack of
structural tone in the
connective tissue within the
body.

Bowel Pockets ~ a little
pocket or indentation in
the side of an intestine
where waste material can
accumulate.
Autonomic Nerve Wreath
~ represents the
autonomic nervous system
Iridology ~ Iris Analysis
